Donor Eggs
Embryo Donation
Gender Selection Using PGD and IVF
This procedure is used to select the desired gender of a baby. It works by use of IVF to fertilize an egg. Once the embryo is a few cells old, the PGD procedure is used to determine the sex of the embryo. The embryo of the desired gender is placed into the mother and the others are discarded. This is the most accurate method to choose the sex of a baby.
Pre-Implantation Genetic Diagnosis
This procedure is used to detect any genetic abnormalities of a newly fertilized embryo. PGD procedure is also used to in PGD Gender selection to determine the sex of the baby for parents wanting to select the gender of their baby.
ICS! (Intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection)
A procedure where the male sperm is inserted directly into the egg for fertilization. The egg which is fertilized is then placed into the womb for development.
IUI or Intrauterine insemination
IUI procedure is used to pick the highest quality sperm, which is then placed into the female’s womb to fertilize eggs at an optimum time.
Testing Embryos
Couples can be offered various embryo tests to determine and detect any diseases that may be hereditary. PFD and PGS are the commonly used tests for this purpose. The PTT test can be performed to determine tissue match for sick brothers/ sisters.
In vitro maturation (IVM)
This is similar to IVF, except that the eggs for fertilization are collected at a more premature stage. So rather than waiting for the eggs to be matured (as in IVF) they are collected earlier so that the female does not have to take too may medications and drugs.
